Step by step
The steps are
the whole point.
An answer with no working is worth one mark and teaches you nothing. Solvecoon is built the other way round: the steps are the product, the answer is the headline, and the last line always checks itself.

How it works
Capture the problem
Select the text or snap the region, whichever is faster for what you are looking at.
Read the steps in order
One operation per line, each named, in the order you would write them on paper.
Find your own break point
Compare against your attempt and stop at the first line that differs. That is the thing to fix.
What it handles
Show your work assignments
Where the method carries the marks and the final number carries one.
Checking your attempt
Select your working and ask where it goes wrong, instead of only whether it does.
Method comparison
Ask for the same problem by another method to see which one your course expects.
Partially finished work
Snap the first three lines and ask for the fourth, not the whole solution.
Explaining a single step
Ask why one line is allowed. That is usually the whole misunderstanding.
Similar practice
Ask for another problem of the same shape and try it without help.
A real one, worked out
This is the shape of every answer: the result first, then the reasoning that got there.
Question
Work out 3/4 divided by 2/5
Answer
15/8, which is 1 and 7/8
Steps
- 1Dividing by a fraction is multiplying by its reciprocal.
- 2The reciprocal of 2/5 is 5/2.
- 3Rewrite: 3/4 x 5/2.
- 4Multiply the numerators: 3 x 5 = 15.
- 5Multiply the denominators: 4 x 2 = 8.
- 6The result is 15/8. As a mixed number that is 1 and 7/8.
Flip the second fraction, never the first. Flipping the wrong one is the single most common error in this topic.

Stop at the first line that differs from yours. That is your actual question.
What it will not do
- It will not do the practice for you. Reading steps and producing steps are different skills.
- It will not be used in graded quizzes, tests, or proctored exams.
- It will not always write the steps in your textbook's exact format. Ask and it will adapt.
- It will not hide its uncertainty. If a capture is unreadable it asks for a better one.
Solvecoon is a study aid, not an answer machine. Exams, graded quizzes, and proctored tests are off limits — see the acceptable use policy.
Questions people ask
- Can I ask about one specific step?
- Yes. Follow-up questions on any answer are a Pro feature: ask why step three is allowed and you get that step expanded rather than the whole solution repeated.
- Does it work for non-math subjects?
- Yes. In chemistry the steps are the conversion chain, in physics the formula and substitution, and in reading the chain of evidence from the passage.
- Is the free plan enough?
- Five solves a day covers a normal homework session for most people. Pro is for the nights when it does not.
- Can it check my working instead?
- Snap your working and ask. It finds the first line that breaks and explains why, which is more useful than a red cross.
