Homework solver
Every question,
worked all the way through.
A solver that only prints an answer teaches you nothing and helps you on exactly one problem. Solvecoon returns the result first, then the chain of steps behind it, so the next problem of the same shape is one you can do yourself.

How it works
Point at the problem
Select the text, or snap the region if it is a diagram, a scan, or a question inside an image.
Pick Solve
Solve is the default action in the selection pill. Explain, Summarize, and Translate sit beside it.
Check your own attempt
Compare your working line by line against the steps and find the exact line where it diverged.
What it handles
Equations
Linear, quadratic, simultaneous, rational, radical, absolute value, and exponential.
Word problems
The translation from English to algebra is shown as its own step, because that is the part people get stuck on.
Multi-part questions
Parts a, b, and c handled in order, with the result from part a carried into part b.
Show-your-work questions
The steps are the output, not a footnote, so you can see what a full-credit answer looks like.
Sanity checks
Already have an answer? Ask whether it is right and where the working goes wrong if it is not.
Non-school questions too
Same shortcut on a lease clause, a spec sheet, or an error message.
A real one, worked out
This is the shape of every answer: the result first, then the reasoning that got there.
Question
Solve for x: 3(x - 4) = 2x + 5
Answer
x = 17
Steps
- 1Distribute the 3 across the bracket: 3x - 12 = 2x + 5.
- 2Subtract 2x from both sides to gather the variable: x - 12 = 5.
- 3Add 12 to both sides: x = 17.
- 4Check by substituting: 3(17 - 4) = 3 x 13 = 39, and 2(17) + 5 = 39. Both sides match.
The check is not decoration. Substituting back is the only step that catches a sign error before you hand the work in.

The answer is the easy part. The middle is where the marks are.
What it will not do
- It will not be used during an exam, a graded quiz, or a proctored assessment.
- It will not upload anything you did not select.
- It will not claim certainty on a blurry or half-cropped capture. It asks for a wider selection.
- It will not solve a problem it cannot read. Handwriting that you cannot read, it usually cannot either.
Solvecoon is a study aid, not an answer machine. Exams, graded quizzes, and proctored tests are off limits — see the acceptable use policy.
Questions people ask
- What subjects does the solver cover?
- Math from arithmetic to calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, statistics, and coding, plus reading and writing questions. Each subject has its own page with the topics it handles and a worked example.
- Can it solve a problem from a picture?
- Yes. Snap the region with Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + S and it reads the image, including diagrams and printed equations.
- How many can I solve for free?
- Five a day on the free plan, which resets daily. Pro raises the cap to 150 a day under fair use.
- Does it store my screenshots?
- No, not by default. The captured region is used to answer the question and then discarded. Saving screenshots alongside your history is a setting you turn on yourself.
