Some questions are not text. They are a diagram, a scanned worksheet, a graph, a chemistry structure, or a question locked inside an image. Press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + S, drag a box around it, and Solvecoon reads exactly that box.

How it works
Press the shortcut
Cmd + Shift + S on a Mac, Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows. The page dims and a crosshair appears.
Drag a box
Cover the question and anything it depends on: the diagram, the axis labels, the table above it.
Watch it stream
The crop is compressed and sent, and the answer streams into the side panel with the steps underneath.
What it handles
Diagrams and figures
Circuit diagrams, force diagrams, geometry figures, and labelled biology drawings.
Graphs and charts
Read a slope off a line, an intercept off a curve, or a value off a histogram.
Scanned worksheets
Printed problem sets photographed or scanned into a PDF your browser is already showing.
Tables of data
Snap the table with its headers so the units and column meanings come along.
Questions inside apps
Practice questions rendered as images or canvas elements, where selecting text gets you nothing.
Handwriting, within reason
Neat handwriting usually reads fine. Messy handwriting is a coin flip, and it will tell you when it is unsure.
A real one, worked out
This is the shape of every answer: the result first, then the reasoning that got there.
Question
From the graph, find the slope of the line through (-2, 1) and (4, 10).
Answer
Slope = 3/2
Steps
- 1Slope is rise over run: (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1).
- 2Rise: 10 - 1 = 9.
- 3Run: 4 - (-2) = 6. Subtracting a negative is the step most people drop.
- 4Slope = 9/6 = 3/2, so the line climbs 3 units for every 2 across.
Snap the axis labels too. Without them the numbers on the grid are guesses.

Draw the box a little wider than you think you need. Context is free.
What it will not do
- It will not capture your full screen. The crop happens in your browser before anything is sent.
- It will not keep the screenshot. Retention is set to Never by default and saving is opt-in.
- It will not read what is off screen. Scroll the whole question into view before you snap.
- It will not be used on graded quizzes or proctored exams.
Solvecoon is a study aid, not an answer machine. Exams, graded quizzes, and proctored tests are off limits — see the acceptable use policy.
Questions people ask
- What exactly gets uploaded?
- Only the rectangle you dragged. The extension captures the visible tab, crops to your selection on your own machine, compresses it to WebP, and sends that. The rest of the screenshot never leaves the browser.
- Are my screenshots saved?
- Not unless you ask for it. The default retention setting is Never: the crop is used to produce the answer and then discarded.
- Does it work on a PDF?
- Yes, as long as the PDF is open in a browser tab. The snap does not care whether the pixels came from HTML, a PDF viewer, or an image.
- What if the answer is wrong because the crop was bad?
- Snap again with a wider box. Cropping a formula in half or leaving out the units is the most common cause of a wrong answer, and Solvecoon will usually say the capture is incomplete rather than invent the missing part.
