Steps
- 1List the knowns: m = 1200 kg, initial v = 0 m/s, final v = 24 m/s, t = 8.0 s.
- 2Acceleration is the change in velocity over time: a = (24 - 0) / 8.0 = 3.0 m/s squared.
- 3Newton's second law: F = ma.
- 4Substitute with units: F = 1200 kg x 3.0 m/s squared = 3600 kg m/s squared.
- 5One kg m/s squared is one newton, so F = 3600 N, pointing the way the car is moving.
This is the net force, not the force from the engine. Drag and friction are part of the same total.

What it will not do
- It will not be used during a physics test or a proctored exam.
- It will not guess a value the question did not give, including g. It uses 9.8 m/s squared and says so.
- It will not read a force diagram that is outside your selection box.
- It will not do your lab report. It will explain what your data suggests.

Questions people ask
- Does it use g = 9.8 or 9.81?
- It uses 9.8 m/s squared by default and states it in the working. Ask for 9.81 or 10 if your course uses one of those and it will rework the numbers.
- Can it handle vectors?
- Yes. It resolves into components, keeps the signs consistent with the axes it declares, and recombines at the end.
- Will it explain why a formula applies?
- Yes, that is the first step of every physics answer: which principle is being used and what makes this situation fit it.
- What about significant figures?
- It rounds to the significant figures the question gives and shows the unrounded value first so you can round differently.
