Chrome extension
A math solver
that stays in the tab.
Web math solvers all share one flaw: you have to leave your homework to reach them, and retype the problem in their notation once you arrive. An extension removes both steps. The solver is already in the tab where the math is.

How it works
Install once
Add it from the Chrome Web Store and pin it. No account needed to start.
Snap or select the math
Highlight typed expressions, snap anything with a fraction bar, a root, or an exponent.
Steps in the side panel
The answer and the working open beside the page, not on top of it.
What it handles
No notation to learn
Nothing to retype into a solver's syntax, so nothing to get wrong in the retyping.
Works inside PDFs
Problem sets distributed as PDFs are captured the same way as a web page.
Works in web apps
Practice platforms that render math as images or canvas are readable as pixels.
History that syncs
Solves appear in the panel and on your dashboard at solvecoon.com.
Follow-ups on Pro
Ask for another method, a simpler explanation, or a similar problem to practise on.
Small permission set
No all-sites access, no tabs, no cookies, no browsing history in production builds.
A real one, worked out
This is the shape of every answer: the result first, then the reasoning that got there.
Question
Solve: log base 2 of x plus log base 2 of (x - 2) equals 3
Answer
x = 4
Steps
- 1Combine the logs with the product law: log2(x(x - 2)) = 3.
- 2Rewrite in exponential form: x(x - 2) = 2^3 = 8.
- 3Expand: x^2 - 2x - 8 = 0.
- 4Factor: (x - 4)(x + 2) = 0, so x = 4 or x = -2.
- 5Check the domain: logs need positive arguments, and x = -2 makes both negative.
- 6Discard x = -2. The only solution is x = 4.
Log equations almost always produce one solution that must be thrown out. The domain check is not optional here, it is the question.

Retyping math into a solver is where half the wrong answers are born.
What it will not do
- It will not be used on graded quizzes, tests, or proctored exams.
- It will not read an expression that is partly outside your selection.
- It will not replace practice. Use it to find the step you missed, then do the next one alone.
- It will not do symbolic manipulation beyond what it can show working for.
Solvecoon is a study aid, not an answer machine. Exams, graded quizzes, and proctored tests are off limits — see the acceptable use policy.
Questions people ask
- How is this different from a math website?
- No tab switch and no retyping. The extension reads the problem where it already is, in whatever format it is in, including images and PDFs.
- Does it support graphing?
- It reads graphs and answers questions about them. It is a solver with explanations, not a plotting tool.
- Which browsers?
- Chrome and Chromium browsers that install from the Chrome Web Store.
- Is it really free?
- Five solves a day with steps, forever, no card. Pro is for heavier days.
